Lakme Fashion Week 2017 favourite Look – Payal Singhal

With the Lakme India fashion week 2017 still making the headlines, we fell in love with one such designer who stole our hearts. Payal Singhal a Mumbai based designer stole the show on the  with her luxe cruise collection. Her designs took us back to the late 1930s as she revealed one masterpiece after another. The designer resuscitated fringed beaded tunics and beautifully celebrated Art deco motifs in her creations. The colours used were mostly muted greys, midnight blues and soft pastels, which worked gloriously with gold embellishment. The look of the collection was extremely powerful and bold, and it was rightfully portrayed with the make-up. The models sported bold eyes which complemented their equally bold lips in wine. The clothing line had red-carpet worthy collection of gowns, short dresses and jumpsuits that bring out the meaning of glamour in the woman’s wardrobe.
Gone are the days when we say that bold lips should not be paired with bold eyes, Payal Singhal at Lakme fashion week summer taught us how to sport both and look like a goddess while doing that. We love the wine tinted lips which rightfully celebrate the spirit of night and complements the collection. Singhal’s luxe cruise had leather appliques and a generous amount of luxe georgette, silk and tulle. Pairing the shades of the wine with the textures of the night has always been a big yes in our fashion diary. And when she brought out her power dressing collection with billowy pants and scalloped hems we secretly did a happy dance in our hearts.
The reason why heavy eyes and wine lips worked was because the garment has muted tones. A matte Smokey eyes with prominent lashes when paired with deep plum and red requires an outfit which will mellow down the drama. And Payal Singhal with her luxe cruise brought the red carpet to every woman’s wardrobe. The next time you sport a beige saree or a cream dress, make sure to bring out your eyes with the matte black gaze and the deep plum lips.
